Importing images

If you have a logo or other graphics you’d like to include in your stream, you’ll want to import them into Switcher Studio before your production. You can import them either directly through the app or, if you’d rather use a laptop or desktop to access your files, you can import them through the Switcher Studio Dashboard.

To import image files directly through the app:

  1. Open Switcher Studio from the primary iOS device that you’ll use to run Switcher during your broadcast.
  2. Tap Use as Switcher.
  3. Tap the + button.
  4. Tap Logo or Photo depending on what you’re importing.
  5. Select the location of your file.
  6. Tap the file you want to use.
  7. Select Use as Image for a full-screen image, or Use as Corner Bug for a smaller image that you can easily move around the screen.
  8. Adjust settings as needed and tap Done in the top right.

To import image files using the online Switcher Studio Dashboard:

  1. Log into your Switcher Studio Dashboard using the same credentials as the app.
  2. Click Switcher Cloud in the left menu.
  3. Click Upload.
  4. Click the Choose File button.
  5. Choose your image file, and click Open.
  6. Click Upload.
  7. Open Switcher Studio from the primary iOS device that you’ll use to run Switcher during your broadcast.
  8. Tap Use as Switcher.
  9. Tap the + button in the Sources panel.
  10.  Tap Switcher Cloud.
  11. Tap the cloud icon next to the file.
  12. The image will appear in the Source panel.

Using built-in templates to create titles, social media handles, and lower thirds

Switcher Studio has several built-in templates to create media assets. For example, you can use Switcher’s Lower Thirds templates to display people’s names and titles, or the Social Overlays templates to display your social media handles during your broadcast. The instructions for creating assets differ based on what you’re creating, but they’re all relatively similar.

To begin creating a new asset from a template:

  1. Open Switcher Studio from the primary iOS device that you’ll use to run Switcher during your broadcast.
  2. Tap Use as Switcher.
  3. Tap the + button.
  4. Tap Text & Graphics.
  5. Select the type of graphic you want to create (e.g. Titles, Lower Thirds, Social Overlays).
  6. Tap one of the built-in templates.
  7. Tap the text under the template.
  8. Delete the pre-populated text and enter your text.
  9. Adjust any of the settings as needed.
  10. Tap Done.

Importing prerecorded video

If you have prerecorded video on your device that you’d like to include as part of your livestream, you can easily add it to Switcher Studio as follows:

  1. Open Switcher Studio from the primary iOS device that you’ll use to run Switcher during your video.
  2. Tap Use as Switcher.
  3. Tap the + button.
  4. Tap Video.
  5. Select the location of your video.
  6. Tap the video you’d like to insert.
  7. Adjust any of the settings as needed.
  8. Use the Thumbnail Selection tool to choose a thumbnail image that will make it easy to identify the video.
  9. Tap Done in the top right.
