Live Selling on Your Website With Switcher Player & Cartr

With Switcher Player's interactive shopping and ability to embed on your own website, live selling is now easier than ever. When you showcase products in the live video, your viewers can fill their cart and checkout directly from your Shopify store.

What is Switcher Player?

Switcher Player is an interactive video player that allows you to stream directly to your own unique URL and embeddable video player. Switcher Player hosts an interactive shop which syncs with your Shopify store and allows viewers to purchase products directly from your live or most recent video.

What is Cartr?

Cartr is Switcher's an app in the Shopify app store which allows you to sync your Shopify store with Switcher Studio and Switcher Player.

Understanding the Viewer Experience

Purchasing items is intuitive and easy with Switcher Player's interactive shop. Check out the viewer's steps below.

1. Click the shopping tab: Viewers can click the shopping tab (price tag icon) in the top-right corner of Switcher Player to view the items you are selling. (Items will only appear in the shop as you showcase them in the livestream.).

2. Add to cart: Viewers can click an item in the shopping tab, select the variations (i.e. size, color), and add it to their cart.

3. Checkout: When the viewer has added the items to their cart they would like to purchase, they can click the checkout button to complete their order.

Requirements

To sell products on your Switcher player, the following are required:

An iOS device. (iPhone, iPad)
A Shopify store.
Switcher Business, Business Plus, or Merchant plan.

Connecting Switcher to Your Shopify Store

To begin live selling on Switcher Player:

Log in to the Switcher Studio Dashboard.
Click Connect to Shopify on the Cartr For Shopify section of the homepage.
Select your Shopify store account.
Click Add Sales Channel.
Click Continue

Adding Switcher Player to Your Website

Now that you have added Cartr to your Shopify store and designated products to sell in your livestream, you can add Switcher Player to your website. You can log in to your Switcher Studio account (created or linked when adding Cartr) on the Switcher Studio Dashboard. This is where you can manage your Switcher Studio account and Switcher Player.

To add your Switcher Player to your website:

Go to the Switcher Player page on the Switcher Studio Dashboard.
Click COPY EMBED CODE from the Embed Code section.
- The link will now be copied to your clipboard.
Paste the embed code into your website editor.
- If someone else manages your website, you can send them the embed code to post to your website.

Downloading the Switcher Studio App

After choosing the products you would like to sell in your livestream, you can download the Switcher Studio app on your iOS device(s). Switcher Studio is the app you will use to stream to the Switcher Player and will allow you to display your products from Shopify in Switcher Player's interactive store.

To download the Switcher Studio app:

Search Switcher Studio in the Apple App Store.
Tap Get, Install, or the cloud icon next to Switcher Studio: Live Stream.
- The Switcher Studio app will now install on your device.

Selecting the Shopify Collection in Switcher Studio

You are almost ready to start your very first live shopping event on your website with Switcher Player! Make sure to send out any invites or notifications and then you can open up the Switcher Studio app on your iOS device to prepare for your livestream.

To select a Shopify Collection for your livestream:

Open Switcher Studio on your iOS device.
- If prompted, be sure to allow Switcher Studio access to your Camera, Photos, and Microphone.
Log in with your Switcher Studio account information.
- This will be the same information you used to log into the Switcher Studio Dashboard.
Tap Horizontal or Vertical.

Tap the Cartr tab (cart icon) in the bottom-right corner.
- You may need to scroll the tab bar to see the Cartr icon if it is not currently visible.
Tap Collection.

Tap the Collection you want to use.
- A blue checkmark will appear next to the selected collection.
Tap Done in the top-right corner.
- The items in the selected Collection will now appear in the Cartr tab in the Switcher Studio app.

Selecting Switcher Player as the Destination

Once you have selected the Shopify collection, you can set up your livestream's event details.

To configure your Switcher Player livestream:

Tap the Outputs tab (box and arrow icon).
Tap the blue arrow next to Switcher Player.

Enter the stream details.
Ensure Enable Live Shopping is toggled on.
Tap Save.

Note: Selecting Switcher Player as a Multistreaming destination does not count toward the total destination limit.

Starting the Switcher Player Livestream

Now that you have designated the collection and configured the livestream settings, you are ready to go live!

To begin the Switcher Player livestream:

Ensure your camera angle is positioned properly for you to display your products.
Tap the red circle in the top-right corner.
- The live video will begin broadcasting to your Switcher Player.

Displaying Products in the Livestream

You can now begin showcasing products and adding them to your Switcher Player shop.

To add an item to your live store:

Tap the Cartr tab (cart icon) on the main switching device (i.e. iPad, iPhone).
Tap the item in the Products list.
- The product will appear in Switcher Player's shop, along with an overlay on your video with the product information, for those who may be watching on other platforms.

Note: The product name, image, UPI, and price, and options (e.g. sizes and colors) are pulled directly from your Shopify store. To see any of these details for a product, tap the "i" button on the right of the product name in the Products list.

Ending Your Switcher Player Livestream

Now that you have showcased your items and you have thanked your viewers for joining and purchasing, you can end the stream in the Switcher Studio app.

To end your Switcher Player livestream:

Tap the stop button in the top-right corner of the Switcher Studio app.
