Production Groups help sort and organize your assets within the Switcher Studio app. While your camera angles cannot be sorted (they will always appear at the top of the Sources Window in the order that they were connected), you can sort all of your images, pre-recorded videos, multi-view templates, and overlays into individual groups as needed. This sorting can be especially useful if you produce a lot of different productions with their own unique assets.

Creating a New Production Group

You can create a production group either directly in the Switcher Studio iOS app or using Switcher Cloud when importing assets. Both processes are outlined below (use the links to jump ahead):

Creating a new Production Group in the App

  • Tap the Scale Elements icon. It is in the bottom-left corner of the Sources/Production Panel. It looks like three rectangles inside of each other.

  • A popup will appear.

  • Tap Edit Groups.

The Production Groups window will appear. If you have created any groups, they will appear here.

  • Tap Add New Group to create a new Production Group.

  • A text box will appear.

  • Type the name of the new group.

  • Tap OK.

Once you have typed in a name for the Group, it will appear in the Production Groups list of existing groups.

  • Tap Close in the top-left corner when you are finished creating new groups.

Creating a new Production Group using Switcher Cloud

When you import files to Switcher Cloud, you can assign assets to existing Production Groups or create a new one. To create a new Group:

  • Click the dropdown under Production Group.

  • Choose Add Production Group.

  • Type the name of the new Production Group in the text box.

  • Click Upload.

When you import assets into the Switcher Studio iOS app from Switcher Cloud, the Production Group assignments will be included.

Changing the Order of Production Groups

The groups will appear in the Sources/Production panel in the same order that they are listed in the Production Groups menu list. Because of that, you may want to regularly reorder the groups.

You can easily manage the Production Groups, from the same menu shown above (Scale Elements icon > Edit Groups).

  • Tap and hold the three-lines to the right of a group name to rearrange it in the list.

Deleting a Production Group

  • Tap the red circle icon beside a group name to delete it from the list.

  • Tap Close in the top-left corner when you are finished managing the list of groups.

Assigning an Asset to a Production Group

The value of creating a Production Group is being able to assign individual assets to the group, and then having those assets appear together. You can assign an asset to a Production Group either directly in the Switcher Studio iOS app or using Switcher Cloud when importing assets. Both processes are outlined below (use the links to jump ahead):

  • Tap Production Group.

  • By default, all assets are in the Main Production Group. These assets will appear at the top of the Sources/Production Panel.

  • A blue checkmark will appear next to the selected Production Group.
