Switcher 11.0: What's New

Switcher app version 11.0, available as of May 6th, 2024, provides many exciting new enhancements to the overall functionality and experience of the app. This article provides information on changes to some core features so users can know where settings and tools are located.

Video Library Hub

The Video Library is now the default view on logging into the Switcher app. This change provides easier access to manage previous livestreams and uploaded videos. To learn more, read How to Manage Your Video Library.


Accessing the Studio

The steps to enter the studio from the Switcher app have changed due to the Video Library being the landing page upon signing in.

To access the studio on an iPad:

  • Log in using your Switcher credentials.
  • Tap New Livestream or New Recording
  • Select Horizontal or Vertical.
  • Tap Enter Studio.

To access the studio on an iPhone:

  • Log in using your Switcher credentials.
  • Tap New Livestream or New Recording
  • Select Horizontal or Vertical.
  • Tap Enter Studio.


Remote Camera Connection

  • When using an iOS device as a remote camera while not signed into a Switcher account, tap Share Camera or Screen directly from the landing page.
  • When using an iOS device as a remote camera while signed into a Switcher account, tap Menu, then tap Share Camera or Screen.


Multistreaming

While the term multistreaming is no longer in the app, the feature still exists when creating a new livestream. To learn more, check out How to Multistream With the Switcher App.

To create a new single destination livestream or multistream:

  • Tap the Outputs tab.
  • Tap Livestreaming.
  • Tap Create a New Livestream.
  • Select your destination(s).
  • Enter the event details.
  • Save your changes.
  • Press the red circle when you are ready to go live.

Note: Custom RTMP is a standalone option for livestreaming directly to a single destination, but can still be used as a destination in the Livestreaming workflow when multistreaming.


Scheduled Events

To access a livestream that has been scheduled in advance using Switcher, you can now access and connect to that stream using the Livestreams option in the Outputs tab.

To livestream to a scheduled event:

  • Enter the studio.
  • Tap the outputs tab. (box and arrow icon)
  • Tap Livestreaming.
  • The scheduled event will be selected by default when there are no other scheduled events.
    • If there are existing scheduled event(s), tap the blue arrow next to Livestreaming, then tap the checkmark next to Set as active for the event.

Note: If you schedule a livestream on YouTube's website instead of through Switcher, you must connect the livestream to Switcher using Custom RTMP.


Auto-save to Video Library

Switcher users on the Business plan will now have livestreams and recordings automatically saved to their Video Library. Auto-saving is automatically enabled when the device is connected to WiFi. To learn more, read How to Manage Your Video Library.


DJI Osmo Mobile Settings

Access to DJI Osmo Mobile settings has moved to the camera connection workflow. This places the settings directly in the camera setup flow for a streamlined experience. To learn more, check out DJI Osmo Mobile Integration.

To access DJI Osmo Mobile settings:

  • Open the Switcher app on the iOS device
  • Tap Share Camera or Screen.
  • Tap Share Camera.
  • Tap the ellipsis in the top-right corner.
  • Tap DJI Osmo Mobile.


Beta Features

Switcher users can now enable beta features from directly within the app. To enable beta features like Electronic PTZ and Chroma Key, tap Menu in the app and select Beta Features.
