Streaming to a LinkedIn Profile or Page

Switcher Studio's LinkedIn Live integration allows you to stream to a personal LinkedIn account or an organization's Company page. This article contains the steps to set up and go live on LinkedIn Live using the Switcher Studio app. Before setting up a stream for LinkedIn Live, you will need to connect your LinkedIn account to Switcher Studio. For information on how to do this, see Connect your LinkedIn account to Switcher Studio.

Setting up a LinkedIn Live Stream in Switcher Studio

Select the stream destination

  • Open the Switcher Studio app on your main switcher device and go to the Outputs tab (box with arrow icon).

  • Tap the blue arrow next to LinkedIn Live.

  • Use the horizontal menu at the top to choose between your Personal page and Organization account.

    • If you are opting for the option you are not currently logged into, you will need to tap the "Change to..." button and log into the correct account.

  • Tap the account you will be using to stream.

  • The next screen is where you will set up the stream.

Note: If you do not have LinkedIn Live access for that Page or Profile, you will see a message indicating your lack of access. You will need to request approval for your page or profile from LinkedIn directly.

Add the stream details and adjust the settings

  • To set up a livestream immediately, keep the Scheduling option set to Go live now. Note: For instructions on scheduling a stream for later, check out the article Scheduling a LinkedIn Live Stream.

  • Tap the box below Event Description to type in a description of the stream.

  • Tap the dropdown below Region.

    • Tap the region that is closest to your streaming location. This ensures LinkedIn uses the most optimal server for your stream.

  • If you want to turn on automatic captions, tap the button next to Auto Closed Captioning. When it is enabled, the button is orange and on the right (shown in the screenshot below).

  • Tap the desired stream setting.

Note: You will want to select a stream quality that you are confident your network can support, as the most common cause of broadcast failures is selecting a quality that is too high. We recommend running a speed test at https://speedof.me to get the most accurate speed test results. Then select a stream quality, based on the minimum upload speeds required to support each option:

  • 270p: 1mbps upload

  • 360p: 1.8mbps upload

  • 540p: 2.5mbps upload

  • 720p: 6mbps upload

  • 1080p: 12mbps upload

  • When you are finished setting up the stream, tap Save.

Starting the LinkedIn Live Broadcast in Switcher Studio

  • After tapping Save as described above, you will be taken back to the main Switcher Studio production screen.

  • In the Outputs tab, next to LinkedIn Live, you should see the first part of the description for the stream you created.

  • Tap LinkedIn Live, and a blue check mark will appear, confirming it as the streaming destination.

  • To go live to LinkedIn, tab the big red button in the top-right corner.
