Giving Switcher Studio Local Network Access

Beginning with iOS/iPad OS 14, Apple introduced a new security setting for local networks that affects Switcher Studio. By default, the local network setting is disabled for all apps. It is critical that you give Switcher Studio access to your local network, so that your devices can communicate with the man switcher. There are two ways to enable this access:

1. Select OK when first prompted by the Switcher Studio app

2. Manually enable access in your device's Settings app

You must enable access on all devices you use with Switcher Studio.

Note: This security setting is only required on devices running iOS/iPad OS 14. It does not exist on prior iOS/iPad OS versions.

When you open Switcher Studio on a device that has updated to iOS/iPadOS 14, you will receive the message shown below, which asks for access to your local network.

• Tap OK to grant access.

Manually enabling access in your device's Settings app

If you tap Don't Allow when you receive the initial prompt shown above, or if you disable access at any time, you will need to manually enable access in your Settings app, as follows:

1. Open the Settings app on your device.

2. Tap Privacy under Settings.

3. Tap Local Network.

4. Tap the toggle button next to Switcher to enable it.

How to See if the Local Network Setting is Enabled

If you are not sure whether you have enabled the Local Network setting for Switcher Studio, you can always check the status in your Settings app:

1. Open the Settings app on your device.

2. Tap Privacy under Settings.

3. Tap Local Network.

4. Look at the toggle button next to Switcher Studio. If the toggle bar is green, with the button on the right (shown in the screenshot below) the setting is enabled.
