Managing Device Storage

Maintaining free storage on devices using Switcher Studio is an important task for ensuring peak performance and uninterrupted livestreams. This article contains information on alternative storage options and processes for deleting stream-related files from devices.

Note: Deleting files is permanent. Please exercise caution when selecting the files you want to remove.

Device Storage Alternatives

Cloud storage is available for users to store both assets and recordings. This means that by utilizing cloud storage, you can use your device storage for only what is critical to the current production.

Switcher Cloud

Switcher Cloud is a feature in the Switcher Studio Dashboard that allows users to upload, store, and download assets via an internet connection. Assets that are not actively used can be uploaded to the Switcher Cloud and then removed from the device to create free storage. For more information, check out the Switcher Cloud Overview article.

Video Library

Cloud Recordings are automatically generated and stored in the Video Library section of the Switcher Studio Dashboard when using the Multistreaming feature in the Switcher Studio app. Cloud Recordings can be viewed and downloaded using the Switcher Studio Dashboard, and act as a great alternative to saving recordings to devices. Deleting Video Recordings From the Switcher Studio App

To delete an individual recording:

  • Open the Switcher Studio app.

  • Tap Video Library.

  • Tap the video you want to delete.

  • Tap the trash icon in the bottom-right corner.

  • Tap Remove.

To delete multiple video recordings:

  • Open the Switcher Studio app.

  • Tap Video Library.

  • Tap Select in the top-right corner.

  • Tap the circle next to each video(s) you want to delete.

    • A blue check mark will appear next to the selected videos.

  • Tap the trash icon in the bottom-right corner.

  • Tap Remove "X" recordings.

Note: This action is permanent. Video Recordings cannot be recovered once deleted.

Deleting Videos and Images Using the Files App

Deleting video and image assets from the Switcher Studio app will not permanently remove them from the internal storage on your device. In order to delete imported assets from the device storage, you will need to use the Files app.

To delete an individual file:

  • Open the Files app on the device.

  • Under Locations, go to On My Phone or On My iPad.

  • Tap the Switcher folder.

  • Tap and hold the file you want to delete.

  • Tap Delete.

To delete multiple files:

  • Open the Files app on your device.

  • Under Locations, go to On My Phone or On My iPad.

  • Tap the Switcher folder.

  • Tap Select in the top-right corner.

  • Tap to select each file you want to delete.

    • A blue checkmark will appear on the selected files.

  • Tap Delete in the bottom-right corner.
