Live Comments

If you are streaming using one of Switcher Studio's integrations (Facebook, YouTube, Twitch), Custom RTMP, and even Multistreaming, you can see audience comments directly in the Switcher Studio app using the Live Comments feature. Viewing comments in Switcher and displaying them in your stream is an easy way to increase interaction with your audience and to encourage people to participate in the conversation.

Note: When using an iPhone as the main switcher device, it must be in vertical mode to access Live Comments.

Viewing Comments When Using a Switcher Integration

If you are streaming to Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, or Microsoft Teams using the built-in integration (i.e. choosing the platform from the Outputs tab), here is the process to view comments. Once you have started your livestream, you can view incoming comments.

Note: Live Comments can also be viewed and displayed when Multistreaming. The icon of the corresponding platform the commenter is using will be displayed on the live comment.

  • Tap the Live Comments tab (speech bubble icon) in the tab bar.

  • At the bottom of the Live Comments pane, there will be text that says "Connected to " followed by the name of the stream.

  • As audience members comment, they will appear in chronological order, with the oldest comments on top and the newest comments at the bottom.

Note: There is a very slight delay between when the original comment is posted on the stream, and when it appears in the app.

Viewing Audience Comments when Using Custom RTMP

If you are using Custom RTMP to stream to Facebook, YouTube, or a third-party simulcasting provider, the process access comments is slightly different.

  • Tap the Live Comments tab (speech bubble icon) in the tab bar.

  • Tap the correct destination to connect and view comments.

Note: Currently, you can only choose a single destination. If you are streaming to multiple destinations, the comments are not combined.

  • If you are streaming to Facebook using Custom RTMP Tap Timeline or Page, depending on where you are streaming.

  • As audience members comment, they will appear in chronological order, with the oldest comments on top and the newest comments at the bottom.

Note: There is a very slight delay between when the original comment is posted on the stream, and when it appears in the app.

Displaying Comments Onscreen in Your Broadcast

  • To display a comment on the live feed, simply tap the comment. It will appear onscreen for your audience to see.

  • To remove the displayed comment, tap the highlighted comment. The comment will no longer be displayed in the broadcast.

Starring/Favoriting Comments

Switcher Studio Live Comments includes an option to star your favorite comments to make it easier to view them. This is especially useful if you plan on referencing or responding to specific comments while live. This is an internal tool that is not visible to the audience.

  • Tap the star on the comment you want to add as a favorite. The space around the star will turn blue.

  • To view the comments you have marked as a favorite, tap the star in the top right corner.

  • To remove a star, simply tap the star next to the comment again. The blue highlight will go away. The comment will no longer appear in the favorites section.
