After installing Switcher Cast on your computer, you may still experience an issue connecting your computer's display to Switcher Studio for the first time. This commonly exhibits itself by either not showing your computer's name as a connectable source in the Inputs tab, or by showing an indefinitely rotating circle after tapping on your computer's name in Inputs.

This issue is easily alleviated by adjusting settings on your computer and network, so that you can use Switcher Cast as intended. Please select your computer model below to troubleshoot your individual needs:

Troubleshooting Your Switcher Cast For PC Connection

If you are unable to connect your PC to your Switcher Studio interface with Switcher Cast, please check that the following settings and specifications are in order:

Are your devices on the correct WiFi network?

The simplest (and most common) connection issue is having your computer on a different WiFi network than your main switching device. This includes the separation between 2GHz and 5GHz networks.

If your main iPad is on My WiFi and your PC is on My WiFi 5G, they will not be able to connect. Please ensure all devices are using the exact same network, and test your connection from Switcher Cast to Switcher Studio again.

Does your PC have the required specs for Switcher Cast?

Your PC must be running on Windows 10. There are no exceptions to this.

Beyond this, please make sure that your PC has the following criteria on its system in order to properly run the software:

  • Intel Core i7 dual-core processor
  • Windows 10
  • 8GB DDR4 RAM
  • iTunes must be installed
  • Bonjour must be installed.

Is your Firewall preventing Switcher Cast from properly connecting?

Most anti-virus programs come with a Firewall component. This prevents outside sources from accessing files on your computer and potentially harming it.

While this is great for most situations, this can prevent Switcher Cast from working as intended, as Switcher Studio needs to make contact with Switcher Cast on your PC in order to bridge the connection.

Open your anti-virus program, and navigate to your Firewall settings. Turn off the Firewall.

Try using Switcher Cast again. If a connection is now possible, add an exception for Switcher Cast to your Firewall before re-enabling the Firewall.

Troubleshooting Your Switcher Cast For Mac Connection

If you are unable to connect your Mac to your Switcher Studio interface with Switcher Cast, please check that the following settings and specifications are in order:

Are your devices on the correct WiFi network?

The simplest (and most common) connection issue is having your computer on a different WiFi network than your main switching device. This includes the separation between 2GHz and 5GHz networks.

If your main iPad is on My WiFi and your Mac is on My WiFi 5G, they will not be able to connect. Please ensure all devices are using the exact same network, and test your connection from Switcher Cast to Switcher Studio again.

Is your Mac running the latest macOS?

Just as the Switcher Studio software must run on the latest iOS in order to function properly, the Switcher Cast software must be running on the latest macOS in order to function as well.

Please take a moment to ensure than your Mac is running on the latest version of the macOS Catalina operating system. Also, please ensure that all of your iPhones and iPads are running on iOS 13 or higher.

Has your Mac given all necessary permissions to Switcher Cast?

If your Mac has restricted permissions to Switcher Cast, then Switcher Cast will not work. To check for required permissions, please open the Security & Privacy app on your Mac's System Preferences screen.

Next, please open the Privacy tab.

Scroll down to the Camera option and tap on this.

Make sure there is a checkmark beside Switcher Cast. The software will not work if this is not selected.
