If you plan on streaming to YouTube, there are four separate steps. The first two steps, enabling livestreaming on your YouTube account and connecting your YouTube account to Switcher Studio, are usually one-time processes.

Next, you'll need to set up the stream, and last, you'll initiate the stream (i.e. broadcast). The process varies slightly based on whether you’re initiating your stream immediately or if you're streaming at a later time.

Enabling livestreaming on your YouTube account

In order to stream to YouTube, you must enable livestreaming on your YourTube account. This is a one-time process that must be performed on a laptop or computer:

  1. Log into YouTube.
  2. Click your profile icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Click YouTube Studio from the dropdown menu.
  4. Click Creator Studio Classic from the menu on the left.
  5. Click Channel in the menu on the left.
  6. Check the status under “Live streaming.” If it’s disabled, click to enable.

Note: Enabling livestreaming for the first time may take up to 24 hours.

Connecting your YouTube account

Once you’ve enabled livestreaming, you’ll need to connect your YouTube account to Switcher Studio:

  1. Open Switcher Studio in your main switching device, and tap Use as Switcher.
  2. Tap to the Outputs tab.
  3. Tap YouTube.
  4. Tap Link Your YouTube Account.
  5. Enter your YouTube login credentials.
  6. Tap Allow.
  7. Tap Close.

Setting up your YouTube stream

Once you’ve enabled livestreaming and connected your YouTube Account to Switcher Studio, there are two main steps you must take any time you go live: setting up the stream event and initiating the stream.

To set up your YouTube stream:

  1. Open Switcher Studio in your main switching device, and tap Use as Switcher.
  2. Tap the Outputs tab.
  3. Tap YouTube.
  4. Tap Create Event.
  5. Add a title and description.
  6. If you are going live immediately, skip the start and end time options, select your Event privacy and Stream quality options, and tap Create Live Event. Skip to the instructions for “Initiating your YouTube stream if going live immediately.”
  7. If you are scheduling a stream for a later time, tap on the Scheduled start and end time boxes and follow these additional instructions.
  8. Tap the desired date on the calendar.
  9. Tap the clock icon under the calendar and select the desired time.
  10. Select your Event privacy and Stream quality options, and tap Create Live Event.
