Switcher has built-in templates that can be used to create and display song lyrics and scripture. Unfortunately, there is not a way to upload an entire song / text and have it scroll during your video production. Therefore, you’ll need to manually separate the lyrics / text and create individual graphics for each section you want to display.

How you create and use the text will vary, depending on whether you’d like the text to appear on top of another image (like a livestream of your praise and worship team), or if you want the text to be the only item on the display.

Adding text to display over another image

  1. Open Switcher Studio from the primary iOS device that you’ll use to run Switcher during your video.
  2. Tap Use as Switcher.
  3. Tap the + button.
  4. Tap Text & Graphics.
  5. Tap Titles.
  6. Tap the second built-in option that says Your Text Here in a white box in the middle of the screen (you’ll be able to change the text and edit the settings).
  7. Under Text, delete the built-in copy and type the first part of your song lyrics or scripture. Use Enter on your keyboard to add multiple lines of text.
  8. To move the position of the text, tap and hold the text, then slide it to your desired location.
  9. Use the Size bar to make the text larger or smaller.
  10. Adjust the font using the Font, Style, and Text Color options.
  11. If you want to keep the text box, you can adjust the color using Box Color.
  12. If you want to remove the text box, turn Background Transparency all the way down to the left.
  13. Ensure the Stay on Top button is selected.
  14. Tap Done.
  15. You should see the newly created text graphic in your Sources panel.

Adding standalone text that will not appear over another image

  1. Open Switcher Studio from the primary iOS device that you’ll use to run Switcher during your video.
  2. Tap Use as Switcher.
  3. Tap the + button.
  4. Tap Text & Graphics.
  5. Tap Titles.
  6. Tap the third built-in option that shows Your Text Here against a blue background (you’ll be able to change the text and edit the settings).
  7. Under Text, delete the built-in copy and type the first part of your song lyrics or scripture. Use Enter on your keyboard to add multiple lines of text.
  8. To move the position of the text, tap and hold the text, then slide it to your desired location.
  9. Use the Size slide bar to make the text larger or smaller.
  10. Adjust the font using the Font, Style, and Color options.
  11. Adjust Background Color and Line Spacing as desired.
  12. Tap Done.
  13. You should see the newly created text graphic in your Sources panel.

Duplicating your graphics

You do not need to go through all these steps for the rest of the song / passage. Instead, you can duplicate the newly created asset, and simply edit the text. Here’s how:

  1. From the main Sources panel, tap and hold the recently created graphic.
  2. Tap Duplicate.
  3. Tap and hold the duplicated graphic.
  4. Tap Edit.
  5. Change the text.
  6. Tap Done.
  7. Repeat this process until you’ve added the entire text.

Sorting your graphics

We recommend sorting the text assets in order so that they are easy to select during your production. To sort assets, from the main Switcher Studio app screen:

  1. Tap and hold an asset.
  2. Tap Reorder.
  3. Tap and hold the asset you’d like to move.
  4. Move it to the desired location.

Displaying your song lyrics / or scripture passages during your livestream

The text assets you created will appear in the Switcher Studio Sources panel. Simply tap a text asset as the lyrics are sung or the passage is read. Tap again to remove the text, and tap the next text asset to place it onto the screen. Continue doing this until the song or scripture reading is complete.
