Setting the correct stream parameters is a common problem. Applying the right settings can be very confusing if you don’t fully understand video phrases like “video resolution” and “video bitrate”.

Without setting these values correctly, your stream may lag, buffer, pixellate, or even fail to broadcast.

Choosing the right resolution and bitrate for Switcher Studio

We have fixed this problem by implementing a Speed Test to automatically assign your stream parameters based on the results of your Internet connection and upload speed.

To begin the Speed Test, open the Outputs tab in Switcher, and tap on the little blue arrow beside Custom RTMP.

If you wish to use a pre-existing RTMP Channel, tap on the little blue arrow beside that Channel's name. If you wish to create a new RTMP Channel, tap on the blue "+" sign beside RTMP Channels.

The RTMP Parameters window will open. Tap on Speed Test in the top-right corner.

The test will begin automatically.

Once the test is complete, tap “Save” to reconfigure your Channel's stream settings based on your results.

Your new settings will show up in the RTMP Parameters tab, configured to provide the best results for your current Internet connection.
