Using Social Stream Redirect To Bring Viewers To Your Website

Many streamers have multiple social media streaming accounts, with different fans and followers on each platform. This is why many Switcher users choose to multistream, so that all of their followers can view their livestreams no matter what.

However, Switcher users may wish to prioritize streaming to a Collection, for the purposes of building their audience on their own website and to enable monetized Gated Content for recurring subscriptions and one-time payments. With Switcher app version 12.2 (released October 2024), you can choose to end a multistream on certain platforms while leaving it live on others.

This means that you can go live to all platforms from the start, announce after some time that the stream is ending on Facebook, YouTube, Twitch, etc., and continue it only to your Collection, allowing you to build the audience for your website without alienating anyone else or leaving them unaware of the subscriber-exclusive streams.

Table Of Contents:

Going Live To Multiple Platforms (Multistreaming)

  • Open the Switcher app on your main switching device.
  • Go to the Outputs tab (box with arrow icon).
  • Tap on the orange "Create" button.

  • Tap on the first social media destination of your choosing (Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch). Select the Page/Channel/etc. for the platform.
  • You'll be taken back to the Destinations window. (OPTIONAL: Select any additional social media destinations you wish to stream to)
  • You'll be taken back to the Destinations window again. Tap on Video Catalog to toggle it on (the button will appear green).
    • Tap the dropdown for "Add To Collections", and select the Collection of your choice. This can be monetized via Gated Content if desired.
  • Tap the orange "Next" button at the bottom of the window when you're finished selecting your destinations.

  • You'll go to the Event Details window. By default, "Go Live Now" is selected in the dropdown bubble, which allows you to create an event for streaming anytime. Tap on this bubble to change it to "Schedule For Later" to pre-schedule your event for a later time.
  • Add a Title and a Description for your stream.
  • Tap the grey button beside "Stream Quality" to run a Speed Test, which will then select the best stream quality for your current network situation.
  • Scroll to the bottom and choose Create Event.

You'll now see the title of your Facebook/Collection stream displayed in the Outputs tab.

When you're ready to go live, tap the big red button in the top-right corner.

Ending The Stream For Your Social Media Destination(s)

  • While you're live to your multistream, you'll see the Outputs tab shows your destinations as small icons. Beside the destinations is an icon with 3 horizontal dots. Tap on this icon.
  • A panel opens that shows, in more detail, where you're streaming to, and what each status is. You'll notice a red "End Stream" button beside each social media destination.

  • Announce to your viewers, "Hey, guys! We're shifting over to my website. If anyone is watching this on social media, please navigate to www.[yourdomain].com to keep watching!"
  • Tap the red "End Stream" button for each destination to end those streams
    • NOTE: This cannot be undone. The only way to go live again to one of these destinations is to end the entire stream (including to your website) and go live again from scratch!
  • You'll now be live on your Collections player only! Proceed to stream as usual for this echelon tier of viewers, and end the stream when you are finished.
