Livestreaming To Facebook And Collections

Collections are a great alternative to social media platforms. Once a Collection is embedded into your website, you'll no longer need to worry about platform stability, ads, or confusing settings (as is the case when streaming to a platform like Facebook, YouTube, or Twitch). Many users are interested in streaming to their own website but do not want to abandon the viewers who prefer the Facebook experience. Thankfully, Switcher has you covered 😉

The steps below help you create a Collection, share out its link, and multistream to both Facebook and the Video Catalog. NOTE: We recommend sharing your Collection link ahead of your livestream.

You can create a new Collection and copy the link to share with your viewers using the steps below.

  • Go to Video Catalog in the Switcher Dashboard.
  • Click New Player.
  • Enter a name and description.
  • Click Create.
  • Click Copy Link in the Share Link section.

Once you have the link to your Collection, you can create social posts and emails informing your viewers that you will be going live to your Collection. Be sure to include the following information:

  • The Collection link
  • The date and time you will go live
  • Details of the livestream

How To Livestream To Facebook And A Collection

  • Open the Switcher app on your main switching device.
  • Go to the Outputs tab (box with arrow icon).
  • Tap on the orange "Create" button.

  • Tap on the Facebook icon, and choose whether the stream should go to your Timeline, a Page that you Admin, or a private test stream (on your personal timeline).
  • You'll be taken back to the Destinations window. Tap on Video Catalog to toggle it on (the button will appear green).
  • Tap the orange "Next" button at the bottom of the window when you're finished selecting your destinations.

  • You'll go to the Event Details window. By default, "Go Live Now" is selected in the dropdown bubble, which allows you to create an event for streaming anytime. Tap on this bubble to change it to "Schedule For Later" to pre-schedule your event for a later time.
  • Add a Title and a Description for your stream.
  • Tap the grey button beside "Stream Quality" to run a Speed Test, which will then select the best stream quality for your current network situation.
  • Scroll to the bottom and choose Create Event.

You'll now see the title of your Facebook/Collection stream displayed in the Outputs tab.

When you're ready to go live, tap the big red button in the top-right corner. Happy streaming!
