Accessing & Exporting Video Files
By default, Switcher Studio keeps a recorded version of your livestream and stores all the recorded video files in the app. Accessing previous recordings can be great for creating highlight reels or making post-production edits before sharing to different platforms. This article walks through how to locate video files and export them to numerous destinations.

Accessing Video Files in the Switcher Studio App

Open the Switcher Studio app on the main switcher (i.e. iPad, iPhone).

Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner.

Tap My Recordings.
Exporting Video Recordings to the Photos App
To export Switcher Studio recordings:

Open the Switcher Studio app on the main switcher.

Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner.

Tap My Recordings.
-
Tap the video you want to export.
-
Tap the share icon (square with arrow).

Tap Send to Photo Library.

Tap Move or Copy.
-
Move will transfer the file to your Photos app and permanently remove it from Switcher Studio.

Copy will transfer the file to your Photos app and leave a copy within Switcher Studio.

Note: Videos cannot be recovered once deleted. We recommend using the Copy option and then manually deleting the file from Switcher Studio after verifying the copy is successfully transferred.
Exporting Video Files to a PC

Connect your main switcher (i.e. iPad, iPhone) to a PC with iTunes via USB.

Open iTunes.

Click the main switcher's name (i.e. Tim's iPhone) in the left sidebar icon.

Scroll down the menu on the left-hand side and click File Sharing.

Scroll down the main page and click Switcher.

Your recordings (and the archived recordings of your streams) will appear in chronological order from oldest to newest.

Click and hold the video file, then drag it onto the desktop or into a folder.

This will move a copy of the video file onto your computer while retaining one in the Switcher Studio app.

Exporting Video Files to a Mac

Connect your main switcher (i.e. iPad, iPhone) to a Mac via USB.

Open Finder.
-
Click your device name (i.e. Tim's iPhone) under Locations in the left sidebar.

If you have never connected your device to the computer you're transferring to, you will need to allow permissions for the computer to access your device. Select Trust on both the computer and the device.

Click Files in the top horizontal menu.

Click Switcher.
-
Your recordings will appear in chronological order from oldest to newest.

Click and hold the video file, then drag it onto the desktop or into a folder.

This will move a copy onto your computer while retaining one in your Switcher Studio app.

Exporting Video Files Using Dropbox & Google Drive

Ensure you have your cloud drive's app installed on your iOS device.

Open the Switcher Studio app.

Tap the menu icon (three lines) in the top-left corner.

Tap My Recordings.
-
Tap the video you would like to export.
-
Tap the share icon (box with arrow).

Tap Open In...
-
If you do not see the app, scroll to the right until you find it.

Tap the cloud drive app (i.e. Dropbox, Google Drive)

For Dropbox you will need to select the destination folder and person you are sending it to.

Tap Upload (Post for Dropbox) in the top-right corner.

Leave your iOS device open until your file is fully uploaded to the cloud drive.
Accessing & Downloading Cloud Recordings
Livestreams made using Multistreaming as the output will have a cloud recording available for download on the Switcher Studio Dashboard. For additional information, check out the Cloud Recordings article.
To access and download Cloud Recordings:

Go to the Switcher Studio Dashboard in a web browser.

Click Video Library in the left sidebar.

Click Download in the bottom-right corner of the video of your choice.

The button will display Queued while the video prepares for download.

The button will display Ready when the video is ready for download.

Click Ready
-
The download will automatically begin.

Note: When the download is Queued, it make take a few moments to process the request before the Ready button is displayed.
