Error: "Audio is currently disabled or being used by another app"
The error message "Audio is currently disabled or being used by another app" may be triggered by a number of causes when using Switcher Studio. This article provides the troubleshooting steps to resolve audio being disabled when using Switcher Studio.
Troubleshooting Steps
Tap Enable Audio
The first step is to tap Enable Audio. If the issue persists or the error message continues, continue with the next troubleshooting step below.
Remove the iPad Cover or Case
If you have a magnetic cover or case on your iPad, remove it when using Switcher Studio. The case can cause an issue with the built-in mic. If you are unsure if your case has a magnet, try removing it and testing again to see if the issue is resolved.
Close other apps that use the microphone
This error message will also appear if there is a background app accessing the microphone. To ensure that's not happening:
-
Close all open background apps.
-
Close tabs open in Safari or other web browsers.
Disable Siri
The error can also be caused if you have Siri enabled and it is using the mic. You can disable the Siri options as follows:
-
Go to the Settings app.
-
Tap on Settings.
-
Tap on Siri & Search.
-
Toggle off Listen for “Hey Siri,” Press Side Button for Siri, and Allow Siri When Locked.
-
Tap on Turn Off Siri in the popup
Disable Voice Mode
We have also seen this happen if Voice Mode is enabled in Switcher Studio on certain iPad models. You can disable it again as follows:
-
Connect a Bluetooth or wired headset to the iPad.
-
Go to the Audio tab in Switcher Studio (icon that looks like a sound wave).
-
Disable Voice Mode.
If you have tried all these steps and are still receiving the error message, please message the support team using the widget in the app or Dashboard, or by emailing support@switcherstudio.com.
